Karl MangoldDr. Karl J. Mangold, DPM, FACFAS

Dr. Mangold grew up in Chicago, IL, where he attended Illinois Wesleyan University and studied Biology and Medical Ethics. He went on to attend Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University where he obtained his DPM in 2007. Dr. Mangold then trained in a rigorous 3-year residency in foot and ankle surgery at Chicago’s Cook County Hospital, The University of Illinois Hospital, University of Chicago’s LaRabida Children’s Hospital, and others. In 2010 he joined the Missoula Foot & Ankle Group and is joined in Missoula by his wife Maria, daughter Elena, and son Charlie. 2014 brought the official recognition of board certification by the American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery.  Dr. Mangold is proud to offer fresh knowledge and state-of-the-art surgical techniques to the people of Missoula and the Bitterroot valley.

Dr. Mangold’s practice interests include:

  • Prevention and treatment athletic injuries
  • Skeletal and soft tissue injuries
  • Pediatrics and congenital diseases of the foot & ankle
  • Circulatory disease of the lower extremities
  • Care of the diabetic foot
  • Amputation prevention and limb salvage

Dr. Mangold is actively pursuing research to further knowledge in the field of foot and ankle medicine and surgical treatment. He is more than willing to give his time for community events and volunteer activities.

Dr. Mangold sees patients at the primary Missoula office, the Hamilton satellite office, and, for UM students, at the Curry Health Center on the UM campus. For those without insurance, Dr. Mangold also volunteers some time at the Partnership Community Clinic in the Creamery building in downtown Missoula.
